Paint Correction
Bring Your Dull Paint Back To Life!
Is your paint dull or swirled?
Paint correction can reap amazing rewards. It can bring back sun faded paint or remove scratches that has happened over years of incorrectly washing your vehicle.
Depending on the severity of your paint, you may need either a one step paint correction, or a one step paint correction.
A two step paint correction can remove 80% of all swirls and scratches. This will leave behind a mirror finish that you could brush your teeth in. This is a very time consuming process that can take anywhere from 6 to 10 hours depending on the size of your vehicle, the type of paint your vehicle has, and the severity of the paint work.
A one step paint correction is more of a gloss up. It doesn’t really remove many scratches, only minor ones. Mostly it helps bring back paint that has faded over years of being in the sun. This process can take from 3 hours up to 6 hours.
Two Step Paint Correction
Every Paint Correction starts with our Wash, save the wax. We decontaminate the paint through a chemical process first to loosen up those embedded particles, then follow up with a clay bar treatment. After the paint dries, we tape off sensitive areas. Once that’s over with, we’re ready to get to work.
A two step paint correction starts with compounding. This is similar to wet sanding, but with a really fine grit. We use our polisher and (depending on how severe your paint is) a heavy cutting compound to remove the deepest scratches we can without adding more paint (if you can catch your fingernail on the scratch, it’ll need paint). We use a variety of polishers to get every area we can reach. If we can’t get into the crevice with our polisher, we can hand polish those few areas.
Once the compounding step is over, we wipe off all of the residue using a paint prep to make extra sure there is none left over, as that can interfere with the next step.
Compounding gets out the scratches; polishing gets out the haze left by the compounding. Polishing is the part that brings out that mirror like appearance. This is much a much faster process than compounding but the same amount of detail is given. Using a softer pad and a polish designed to bring out the gloss in your paint, we go over everywhere we compounded.
After everything is done, we once again wipe everything down with a paint prep solution, and your paint is ready for either wax or a coating. We recommend a coating as this process is needed prior to installing a coating.
One Step Paint Correction
The process for a one step paint correction is similar to a two step except we don’t compound the paint, only polish.
We use a one-step polish that will get minor scratches and swirls out of your paint. This polish starts off aggressive and as the polish is worked in, it becomes finer and finer. Though this is great, it does not replace a two step correction when needed.
This correction is used for glossing up paint that is mostly scratch free, and removing oxidation from you paint.
Our Process
1. Pre Rinse
First, we need to remove as much dirt from the paint as we can. We use a lower powered pressure washer to blast away as much dirt as we can.
2. Wheels
We use a variety of brushes to get the face and inner wheel. We also attack the fenders while we are there.
3. Pre Soak
Foaming up your vehicle helps loosen the dirt. As the foam drips off the paint, it carries most of the dirt with it. Plus, we think it looks cool.
4. Mid Rinse
Now that the foam has had time to loosen up the dirt, We rinse off the vehicle again to wash as much away as possible.
5. Hand Wash
We gently was your vehicle with microfiber wash mitts. We use super soft detail brushes to get around emblems and other small areas.
6. Post Wash Rinse
Now that everything has been agitated, its time to rinse again. This will reveal clean paint that was hiding under all that grime.
7. Dry
Blowing off the water gets the majority off, then we come back with a huge microfiber drying towel and pull it across the surface. We do not add any pressure, just the weight of the towel.
8. Decontamination and Clay Bar
Using a chemical decon, we spray down the vehicle and let the chemical break down all the iron deposits in the paint. Then, using a detail spray as lubricant, we clay bar your paint to remove all those embedded contaminants. This leaves behind paint that feels as smooth as glass. If your paint feels rough, it probably needs this.
9. Dress Tires
Finally, we give the tires a shine. This will not cause sling as the dressing is dry to the touch moments after applying.
10. Inspect Paint
With the paint clean, we can see the true condition of you paint and determine what process will work best for your situation.
11. Compound
Using an aggressive compounding formula, we polish over all of your paint and inspect along the way to insure we are removing as many scratches and blemishes as possible.
12. Paint Prep Wipe Down
We wipe down all the paint with a Paint prep to remove the compounding residue so that no of the aggressive abrasives make its way into the polishing solution.
13. Polish
Next we polish the paint to a mirror shine. This will take out the compounding scratches left behind.
14. Paint Prep Wipe Down…Again
We finish off with another wipe down of the paint to remove the polish and oils left behind. This leaves the paint ready to accept coatings or wax.
15. Checklist
Finally, we go back around the vehicle and looks for areas we may have missed or can improve on and take care of them before presenting the vehicle to you.
